Busy As A Bunch of Bees!!

Man!! Was August a CRAZY month or what!?! You saw how our month started with the Hutchison Reunion! Wheewh! Definitely a weekend that needs a little recovery time. We didn't have much though until the month took off.

The next week we had a completion of our 5th year anniversary celebration! It all started on the actual day, July 27th, we decided to have a fun family breakfast at iHop, followed by an exciting trip to Seven Peaks, and finished off with a DELICIOUS dinner at Melting Pot!! Someplace I've always wanted to go, and it was SO much fun to finally experience it! Well, at that delicious dinner Brandon surprised me with WICKED TICKETS!! Fast Forward to August 10th and there we are, sitting in the theater having SUCH a wonderful time!! In fact, the time had was SO stupendous, that we decided to make one of my bucket list items officially receive a check, and booked ourselves some ticket to NYC so we could see the show on Broadway!! We take off in just a couple of weeks now and we can't wait!!! We've been waffling around with different trip ideas for a few months. Scarlet's getting closer to one (CRAZY!!) and we always knew we wanted to take a trip around that time, I don't know why, it was recommended to us just as some sort of milestone and to have a reconnecting trip of sorts, and we thought it was a great idea! But now with Brandon's crazy DoTerra schedule consuming all of our lives at the moment, it'll also be a nice getaway after convention finishes up in T-12 DAYS!! YAY!!!

DoTerra has definitely kept Brandon so busy lately. Poor guy. He had to go to HAWAII for 5 days and they also took him to Colorado. I know the Hawaii part DEFINITELY doesn't deserve a 'poor guy' reference. But he's had to put in some pretty long hours, weekends, even all nighters, and has pushed his filming/editing/storyboarding/prioritizing skills to the max! Besides being overly consumed by DoTerra, he's still working on side projects! Having filmed 2 weddings on the same day (how? I still don't know), starting & finishing edits on the Taylor Andrews Annual Hairshow DVD, AND somehow finding time to pick up a new client. He is one crazy man, but he's doing such a good job turning out unbelievable products, and keeping everyone very happy, including his wife and little baby. He is so incredible.

Speaking of the wife and little baby. It's been a rough month for us around here. Poor Scarlet got SUPER sick at the beginning of August. At first we just thought it was a teething bug, but it was definitely so much more. After awhile she wasn't able to keep anything down or in her diaper for almost a week (we lost some pretty cute onsies that week), and after a couple days she started refusing food altogether. It was REALLY sad and pretty scary. The doctor had me strictly monitoring her liquid intake and luckily she pulled through, narrowly escaping a visit to Primary Children's. It was an especially hard time for mom too because she was handling the scary part (but thankfully the end of it) on her own - that was when dad had to take off to Hawaii for DoTerra. Yeah. I KNOW!! Haha! He really felt so bad though, not only was our poor little girl so sick, but it was also my first time being at home alone! I was SO scared. But now I feel like a real live mom!! We made it though, Scarlet and I, and we're both so much stronger for it.

Sadly, our feeling good streak didn't last long. Those of you who know me, know I'm a part-time admin, an aspiring hairdresser, and a professional klutz. Poor Scarlet though, had to learn first hand. Due to a poorly positioned baby gate and a small bladder, some pretty understandable choices, for anyone with normal balance, were made, that resulted in a pretty disastrous fall. :( It. was. TERRIBLE. No words could be formed. I was SO beside myself. Luckily, Brandon helped me keep a semi level head and had me call my mother-in-law, Debbie, before calling the ambulance. She came over and helped keep me calm until Brandon could get home and we could go to the Emergency Room. It was SUCH a sad night. But after an X-Ray of a VERY painful knee (me) and a CT scan of a very concussed head (Scarlet :( ) we got the WONDERFUL news that everything was going to be alright. So the three of us, covered in throw-up from the 7 times that poor little girl was sick that night, headed home VERY tired, and still VERY shaken up, to our VERY inviting beds. We are still working on a full recovery, but things are definitely looking good. Scarlet's still got a good sized hematoma on the side of her head, and my knees are still pretty sore and banged up, but considering how awful it COULD HAVE been!! I couldn't feel more blessed and happy about our situation. It was also amazing to see all the love and support from our wonderful family. Constant phone calls and visits to check on the stats of our precious little Scarlet. We feel so humbled and blessed to have family that loves us so much.

Another thing that really helped lift our spirits was the BYU opening game that happened the day after!! We have been counting down the days since January, so this VERY highly anticipated event was just the ticket to pull us out of the awful haze of the night before. And what better people to help in the celebration of the event then our wonderful friends the Latimers!! They were so sweet to come over to our very unprepared house, to quietly party (in hopes of not waking up a recovering baby), and lift the pretty gloomy atmosphere that had been emanating in our home all day. It really was just what we needed!! Wonderful friends, uplifting conversation, delicious treats, and a VICTORY!! It was just the perfect way to end a day that started so sadly.

p.s. in both of these pictures she's only doing a half touchdown, but she normally does the full thing!! I tried to teach her 'SO BIG', where she holds both her arms up when I say it, for months! Brandon goes over touchdown for less then 20 minutes and she hasn't stopped since. -It is so cute-

Luckily, Scarlet has been able to have some fun times this month too! We went to the Zoo and the splash pad a couple times! She's gotten not one, but TWO teeth! Her first ever popped up August 17th! She got her first haircut, on August 18th, which resulted in her baby mullet being cut off! SO EXCITING! She's learning new words, or at least doing a good job mimicking the words we say to her, like 'thank-you' 'kisses' 'nice' and (one her dad taught her) 'coke' :). She starting to stand, even if only for a few seconds, on her own! When she isn't sick :( she's eating a bunch of different things and seems to love all of it! If not, she'll let you know by either sticking her tongue all the way out with the food on it, or blowing raspberries to get it out of her mouth. She didn't like olives the first time she tried them (which made her dad really proud), but I'm happy to report that after her second encounter with them today, she's a lot more excited about them! :) She's really just an amazingly happy girl who has so much fun in the world around her. We couldn't feel more happy and blessed to have her be a part of our family.

Going into September - the month before she turns ONE!! - we are SO excited to see what she has in store for us!!! With the highly anticipated DoTerra Convention, the BYU v Utah game, our trip to New York, and with this girl keeping us on our toes and interacting in new and exciting ways everyday, we know we're in for another ridiculously adventurous month.
